Artisan Guild by the Bay (formerly the Laurel Heights Artisan Guild) celebrates, supports and promotes handmade crafts and artwork made for and by members of the UCSF community. Our aim is to foster community across the campus and to create a safe space to express our unique talents and creativity. We hold semi-annual craft fairs at the Mission Bay campus which are open to the public and vended by members of the guild.

The Asian Pacific American Systemwide Alliance (APASA) at UCSF was formed in 1988 to address issues impacting the Asian Pacific community and continues to promote professional and social relations within UCSF, as well as the rich and diverse cultural heritage of all Asian communities. In past years, APASA organized various cultural events including entertainment, speakers and workshops to celebrate, embrace and progress our Asian community at UCSF. APASA works closely with other UCSF minority organizations to address issues of equality, fair labor practices and diversity at UCSF.

Association of Chinese Students and Scholars at University of California San Francisco(ACSS at UCSF ) was founded in 1992. It's a non-profit, non-political and non-religious organization. The members of ACSS are primarily students and scholars of UCSF of Chinese origin. But any UCSF personnel who are interested in Chinese culture, opportunity in China, or interaction with Chinese community at UCSF are welcome to join. The main purpose of ACSS is to organize professional, social and cultural events to promote interactions among our members and increase the exposure and involvement of the Chinese community within the entire UCSF family.

The Black Caucus is a forum open to all Black identified individuals and allies on this campus.

Here they may openly express themselves regarding matters of race as they
affect life on the campus and in the community. The Black Caucus will serve
as an instrument for the formation of a Black consensus on those racial
matters that affect every person on this campus. This consensus will then be
presented to the Administration for appropriate action.

Our mission is to create a more inclusive and equitable workplace environment to help with areas of growth professionally, workplace support, understanding black health and more. Through open dialogue and analysis, we continue to develop recommendations for HR leadership to dismantle structural racism within the organization. This includes advocating for policies and practices that actively promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.



We are committed to supporting each other in finding our voices and being our authentic selves in the workplace by fostering a supportive community within the Black in HR group. We do this in our monthly meetings. We empower each other to navigate challenges, express our perspectives, and contribute to positive change. Together, we strive to create a workplace where black professionals feel valued, respected, and able to succeed without facing systemic barriers. The BIHR group brings value to supporting black professionals.

The weekly Friday evening meeting from 5:30 to 9:00 pm is a fellowship for Chinese students, scholars, and their families living around the UCSF campus. The purpose of CEF is to share the Gospel and provide both social and spiritual support, especially for newcomers as they strive to succeed in their academic and research pursuits at UCSF while adjusting to life in a new country and community. The meeting typically includes fellowship, Bible study, guest speaker presentations, video screenings, and interactive Q&A sessions. In addition to these weekly gatherings, CEF also organizes regular social activities and events to enrich the lives of its members.

The Chicanx Latinx Campus Association seeks to bring together the Chicanx/Latinx community at UCSF with the purpose of:

1- Increasing the representation of faculty and staff in various roles including positions of leadership
2- Increasing the numbers of tenure ranked faculty across the five different schools at UCSF
3- Increasing the numbers of Chicano/Latino students and trainees at UCSF coming from the SF Bay area and the state of California

The Committee on Disability Inclusion at UCSF works to identify and address barriers impacting people with disabilities across the UCSF community. CDI serves as a coordinating and advisory body that evaluates institutional policies, programs, and procedures, and recommends improvements to enhance physical, digital, and programmatic access. Through collaboration with campus partners, CDI seeks to promote inclusion and ensure that people with disabilities can fully participate in all aspects of campus life.

The UCSF Committee on the Status of Women is a multidisciplinary group of people; including faculty, staff, post-doctoral scholars, graduate students, residents and students; who are interested in advocating for, building awareness of and advising on women’s issues at UCSF. All advocates and allies are welcome to participate.

Mission & Charge

- Examine the issues regarding the status of women on this campus (excluding those involving wages, hours or working conditions)
- Analyze existing policies, procedures, and/or programs to ensure there is no preference or prejudice based on race or gender
- Serve as a coordinating body for any group or individuals concerned with the status of women at UCSF
- Recommend to the Vice Chancellor of Diversity and Outreach changes that will continue to afford equal and fair access to campus programs and activities for all

Our minority organizations focus on diverse, social, cultural, and employment interests within the campus community. We seek to provide a forum to work together toward common values and goals. COMO was established in 1989 to unify our efforts toward balance, awareness, recognition and equal opportunities for qualified minority individuals.

The purposes of COMO are:
-To provide a forum for discussion to strengthen ties between UCSF minority organizations on issues of mutual concern
-To provide access to information at the campus and Office of the President level
-To provide a standing mechanism to deal with issues that arise out of conflict

Friends of the Chancellor's Concert Series at UCSF (FriendsCCS@UCSF) is a faculty and staff run registered campus organization at UCSF, founded in 2017 to continue exceptional professional, classical music performances on campus to benefit the appreciative UCSF community. Together with Campus Life Services Arts & Events, FriendsCCS@UCSF supports the Chancellor's Concert Series. The concerts showcase members of the San Francisco Symphony, San Francisco Opera, faculty at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Stanford University, San Francisco State University, Crowden School and their colleagues. The broader purpose is to add cultural events to our all-science campus, provide an "oasis", promote wellness, and thereby improve UCSF's mission in the health sciences. The five administrators are Pearl Toy MD, Nelson B. Schiller MD, Kirsten Fleischmann MD, Matthew Springer PhD and Carol Yarbrough MBA. David Watts MD is a founding member.

Japanese San Francisco Bay Area Seminar hosts life science/medical science seminars and provides various events for students, postdoctoral fellows, staff, and faculties. We exchange scientific knowledge/information to support our research activities as well as carrier development. Since most of the members come from Japan, we also support their life in the U.S.

Jewish Voice for Peace's mission is to organize Jewish people and allies in the U.S. to work in solidarity in the struggle for Palestinian freedom. As the staff and faculty chapter of JVP at UCSF, we will partner with the student chapter of JVP at UCSF, JVP-Bay Area, and JVP National as well as our sibling organization FSJP at UCSF to engage in outreach and education for Jewish and non-Jewish members of the UCSF community alike. We will host Jewish ritual events, such as Shabbat dinners, and sponsor discussions where we can engage in dialogue and form coalitions in support of Palestinians. JVP is a grassroots, multiracial, cross-class, intergenerational movement of U.S. Jews and allies in solidarity with Palestinians, guided by a vision of justice, equality, and dignity for all people.

The Lab Resource Group, with the leadership team being the Lab Manager's Steering Committee, is made up of lab managers and representatives from various campus organizations including EH&S, ITS, Supply Chain Management, UCSF Logistics, HR, UCPD, and Facilities Management. We meet once every two months to discuss topics that impact researchers on campus. It is part of our mission to ensure the research community has a voice in the development and implementation of policies, operations, and regulations pertaining to laboratory research.

SKY provides tools to build resilience, clarity of mind and social connection. We aim to empower UCSF staff, postdocs, and faculty to develop and maintain a stress-free mind with a healthy and energetic body so we all achieve more as individuals and part of the community.
