Under the guidance of medical students, Cardiac Camp participants will dive into the practical knowledge needed to understand Valvular Heart Disease, its impact on heart function, and the various treatment options available. In this interactive small group session, campers will learn about the different types of valvular heart disease, including aortic stenosis and mitral valve regurgitation, and how these conditions affect the heart’s ability to pump blood effectively. Through case studies, participants will gain insights into the diagnosis and management of valvular heart conditions, with a particular focus on how doctors assess valve function and make treatment decisions. This hands-on experience will equip campers with a deeper understanding of the symptoms, diagnostic tests, and therapies involved in treating VHD, including lifestyle modifications, medications, and, when necessary, surgical interventions.
