The Academy of General Dentistry Chapter at UCSF has information and resources specific to the needs of dental students who are interested in exploring the scope of general dentistry. Other allied dental organizations like the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Academy of Laser Dentistry, and Academy of Implant Dentistry look to the AGD for leadership in issues affecting the general dentistry community. The AGD is the primary community of interest invited for input to the ADA on issues affecting the general dentists. The AGD provides dental students with various activities and resources, such as education development, mentor program, career assistance, practice management tools, and award and recognition.

The Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) is a professional association of pharmacists and associates who serve patients and the public by the promotion of wellness and rational drug therapy through the application of managed care principles. The Academy has more than 8,000 members nationally who provide comprehensive coverage and services to the more than 200 million Americans served by managed care. The Student Chapter at UCSF is dedicated to expanding awareness and understanding of managed care on campus. Our events are designed to educate our members about current trends in managed care, offer opportunities to interact with professionals in the field, and obtain hands-on experience through participation in projects such as the P&T Competition. In addition, we organize an annual elective course that exposes students to core concepts and career opportunities in managed care pharmacy.

According to the WHO, about 85% of waste generated by healthcare-related activities are general, non-hazardous waste.
The Alliance for Pharmacy Sustainability (APS) is a UCSF School of Pharmacy registered campus organization. Our ultimate mission is to improve quality of life for all through ensuring proper disposal and better sustainability practices for pharmacy-associated medical supplies and medications. We will work towards our goal by searching for and delivering resources to pharmacies to help reduce their waste and to educate members of our communities on proper disposal options for pharmacy-related waste. We aim to foster relationships with pharmacies to help find better solutions to reduce their waste and increase the amount of waste recycled. Additionally, we are committed to actively engaging with our community via outreach to community pharmacies and other outpatient settings to help communities understand the how's and why's of safe and ecological pharmacy-related waste disposal.
We will adapt our understanding of the best environmental sustainability practices in the field of pharmacy and healthcare as they evolve, and incorporate these changes into our education and community outreach practices. We aim to ensure the field of pharmacy is actively engaged in reducing pharmacy-related waste while practicing more sustainable habits for our communities. Overall, we hope to make an impact that will ultimately help us reach carbon neutrality.

The American Dental Education Association (ADEA) Student Chapter at the UCSF School of Dentistry strives to promote excellence in all aspects of dental education. We aim to address the need for dental educators, to encourage the pursuit of careers in academia and research, to further post-graduation education /specialty programs, to outreach, mentor and recruit under-represented students into dentistry and to promote oral health.
Local activities include:
1) Seniors Brush Up. ADEA provides dental screenings, oral health care education to the elderly population.
2) Impressions Conference. Pre-dental undergrads come to UCSF for speakers, dental demos, mock-interviews, personal statement reviews and mentorship.
3) High School Outreach Conference (HSOC). Interprofessional health care conference. Over 300 high school students from diverse/ low-income areas come to UCSF. We aim to expose students to careers in health care.
4) "What Matters To Me Most and Why" Lunch and Learn series where dental faculty speak about why they chose to enter into academia
5) Faciltate UCSF's Academic Dental Careers Fellowship Program (ADCFP) which provides structured mentoring to dental students as they take on an academia related research project.

The American Pharmacists Association - Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) is the largest pharmacy student organization at UCSF and is the student branch of the American Pharmacists Association (APhA), the first established and largest professional association of pharmacists in the United States; the American Pharmacists Association empowers its members to improve medication use and advance patient care.

Our state pharmacy organization, California Pharmacy Association (CPhA) is also the largest of its kind; it is the mission of the California Pharmacists Association to promote the health of the public through the practice of pharmacy.

CPhA and APhA are the only professional organizations that have members in all fields of pharmacy practice. We are the voice of the profession.

The American Student Dental Association is a national student-run organization that protects and advances the rights, interests, and welfare of students pursuing careers in dentistry. APAMSA @ UCSF seeks to be a cornerstone in the conversation about Asian-American identity and physicianship, and what it means to understand and address the needs of both the Asian American, Native Hawaiian & Pacific Islander (AANHPI) community and all communities of color. As AANHPI health professionals, we challenge and examine the responsibilities we have towards advocating for and promoting the health of our own communities, while also educating ourselves on the role we play in the broader fight against racial injustice. APAMSA seeks to celebrate our diverse cultures while also working in solidarity and building relationships with other POC organizations on campus (SMNA, LMSA, WC4BL) and locally. We aim to build a soulful, loving community that highlights our unique collective experiences, and provide a space to discuss and explore these meaningful topics.

The Asian Pacific American Medical Students Association (APAMSA) is a national organization of medical and pre-medical students committed to addressing the unique health challenges of Asian and Pacific Islander American (APIA) communities. APAMSA serves as a forum for student leaders to engage these health issues and develop initiatives and projects addressing those needs. The local, regional, and national activities of APAMSA aim to promote the health of the APIA community and help healthcare workers understand how to care for APIA patients in a culturally sensitive manner. Finally, APAMSA provides an important venue for medical students to meet, exchange experiences, and develop personally and professionally through leadership and service.

APAMSA's foundation was laid in 1993 by Asian American students worried about the present and future of the APIA community. Dr. B Li co- founded the e-mail bulletin board 'AAMSnet' for Asian American medical students in 1994 and co-formed the Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association in 1995.

APAMSA was formed because issues of APIA health were largely ignored by existing organizations. Since its initial formation in 1995, APAMSA chapters have formed at schools across the country to improve the health and well-being of the APIA community and promote understanding of the unique challenges Asian Pacific Americans face in medicine.

The Asian Pacific American Systemwide Alliance (APASA) at UCSF was formed in 1988 to address issues impacting the Asian Pacific community and continues to promote professional and social relations within UCSF, as well as the rich and diverse cultural heritage of all Asian communities. In past years, APASA organized various cultural events including entertainment, speakers and workshops to celebrate, embrace and progress our Asian community at UCSF. APASA works closely with other UCSF minority organizations to address issues of equality, fair labor practices and diversity at UCSF.

The members of ACSS are primarily students and scholars of UCSF of Chinese origin. Even with efforts to increase the number of minority ethnic groups in science and medicine, the proportion of black men pursuing and obtaining degrees in these fields has reached a historic low. In 1986, 57% of black medical school graduates were men — but by 2015 that number had dropped to just 35%, even as the total number of black graduates in all fields had increased.1 By providing opportunities for networking, community-building, and mentorship, Black Men in Medicine at UCSF strives to dismantle the barriers that have perpetuated the dearth of black men in the field and act as a resource for those currently pursuing careers in medicine to find success.
