Mission
The Academy of General Dentistry Chapter at UCSF has information and resources specific to the needs of dental students who are interested in exploring the scope of general dentistry. Other allied dental organizations like the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Academy of Laser Dentistry, and Academy of Implant Dentistry look to the AGD for leadership in issues affecting the general dentistry community. The AGD is the primary community of interest invited for input to the ADA on issues affecting the general dentists. The AGD provides dental students with various activities and resources, such as education development, mentor program, career assistance, practice management tools, and award and recognition.

The Academy of Sleep Medicine and Dentistry (ASMD) is dedicated to bringing attention and consideration to the science of sleep medicine across the various professional disciplines at UCSF and campuses worldwide. In addition to hearing renowned guest speakers, students will also have the chance to collaborate on the development of a sleep medicine elective, and will additionally share their findings on pertinent sleep research. Above all, ASMD strives to educate students about common sleep disorders through the research and presentation of meta-analyses and to support leaders who can use their academic training and specialties to craft innovative solutions for the future of sleep medicine.

The American Dental Education Association (ADEA) Student Chapter at the UCSF School of Dentistry strives to promote excellence in all aspects of dental education. We aim to address the need for dental educators, to encourage the pursuit of careers in academia and research, to further post-graduation education /specialty programs, to outreach, mentor and recruit under-represented students into dentistry and to promote oral health.
Local activities include:
1) Seniors Brush Up. ADEA provides dental screenings, oral health care education to the elderly population.
2) Impressions Conference. Pre-dental undergrads come to UCSF for speakers, dental demos, mock-interviews, personal statement reviews and mentorship.
3) High School Outreach Conference (HSOC). Interprofessional health care conference. Over 300 high school students from diverse/ low-income areas come to UCSF. We aim to expose students to careers in health care.
4) "What Matters To Me Most and Why" Lunch and Learn series where dental faculty speak about why they chose to enter into academia
5) Faciltate UCSF's Academic Dental Careers Fellowship Program (ADCFP) which provides structured mentoring to dental students as they take on an academia related research project.

The American Student Dental Association is a national student-run organization that protects and advances the rights, interests, and welfare of students pursuing careers in dentistry. It introduces students to lifelong involvement in organized dentistry and provides services, information, education, representation and advocacy. At the local level, the ASDA at UCSF holds multiple community outreach events each quarter. Asian Dental Health works to serve the underserved Asian community's oral health needs here in San Francisco on behalf of the School of Dentistry. We are a community service oriented RCO and are committed to bridging the health equity gap caused by language barriers and advocate for the enhancement of oral health literacy. By extending our knowledge to the community of San Francisco, we aim to address the oral health disparities of the Asian population and connect students to their cultural heritage through outreach. We also work to introduce future dentists to faculty, residents and alumni of different specialties and backgrounds to hopefully inspire the future generations to become more involved with their own communities as well.

California Public Health Association North at UCSF aims to provide accessible dental care and education to the greater San Francisco community in hopes of providing and promoting oral health literacy. Our chapter advocates for the improvement and maintenance of personal and community dental health through prevention and education. Among other dental public health activities, CPHA-N annually hosts the Give Kids A Smile Day at UCSF School of Dentistry. The event provides free dental services to children in the Bay Area community.

A collaboration among faculty, residents, students, and volunteers, Children's Night Clinic serves to educate the primary caregiver and kids on oral health, as well as inform the primary caregiver about insurance and motivate a transition to obtain DentiCal, ultimately securing a dental home for their children.
CNC is guided by three mutually supportive sets of aspirations:
For the patients
To provide oral health education and insurance counseling. To achieve a positive impact on the lives of our community.
For the students
To create a setting in which students can learn while cultivating sensitivity and an understanding of oral health disparities, social determinants, and systemic barriers to accessing care.
For the Community
To use Children's Night Clinic as a forum for education and interprofessional intervention to improve oral health disparities. To promote advocacy for the oral health disparities and social determinants of health.
Ultimately, we hope this experience will broaden the vision among all schools at UCSF and make us more able and compassionate health care providers for the uninsured population.

The organization is made possible due to volunteer faculty, student providers/assistants, and CDC coordinators. CDC treats 16-20 patients from various wellness organizations around San Francisco every Wednesday night during the quarter.

Delta Sigma Delta is the oldest international professional dental fraternity. Our Chapter at UCSF, Zeta Chapter, was founded on October 23, 1891. Today, Delta Sigma Delta currently has 32 Undergraduate chapters in the US and 34 Graduate chapters worldwide - all of whom possess the qualities of Knowledge, Strength, and Justice. The Hispanic Dental Association (HDA) is a national, non-profit organization comprised of oral health professionals and students dedicated to promoting and improving the oral health of the Hispanic community. In addition, they provide advocacy for Hispanic oral health professionals across the US.
As one of the leading voices for Hispanic oral health in California, the UCSF student chapter of HDA promotes service, health education, advocacy and leadership to strengthen our Hispanic student community at UCSF. To reach this goal, we organize health fairs and mentorship events as well as socials, fundraisers, and community service events. In addition, we partner with the Chicanos/Latinos for Health Education (CHE), an organization where the Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and Dentistry at UCSF come together to reach our main objective to one day eliminate health disparities in the Bay area.
