About Us

We are an interprofessional group of UCSF students advocating for justice, local and abroad, particularly in reference to issues of modern colonialism and occupation. Our group will foster discussion on relevant topics and collaborate on social justice efforts with organizations sharing a similar mission. Our name, Student Healers against Modern Colonialism, or SHAMC, can be read "shamsi," which means "my sun" in Arabic. Indeed, we hope our group's work will shed light on modern colonialism and its impact on people from a variety of geographic areas.
