About Us

The Society of Women in Medicine (SWIM) is a mentoring program that fosters the growth and development of women students in medicine by pairing female pre-medical college students with current UCSF medical student mentors, who give advice and host networking events and lecture series. The purpose of SWIM is to encourage women college students who are considering a future in medicine and to support the professional development of women medical students. SWIM will demonstrate that women can and do excel at all levels of medical education, including in medical specialties in which women are often underrepresented.
