About Us
SAFE (Scrubs Addressing the Firearm Epidemic) is a national organization whose mission is to ensure that all healthcare providers are equipped with skills and evidence-based knowledge to advise their patients, communities, and legislators on firearm use and ownership to prevent injuries and deaths. We envision a healthcare system in which all healthcare providers have the confidence to help their patients protect themselves and their families from firearm injuries. To realize this vision, the SAFE chapter at UCSF is dedicated to advancing firearm safety- related education, advocacy, and community engagement at UCSF and in our local community. We aim to work with faculty and students across all specialties to ensure all patients have access to tools and knowledge that will keep themselves, their loved ones, and their community safe from firearm violence.
