About Us

The Genetics and Genomics Student Interest Group (GGSIG) is a student-run organization founded to: Provide resources and opportunities for students to explore their interest in genetics/genomics, educate students about the impact of genetics/genomics on current and future clinical medicine, connect students with local experts in genetics/genomics from clinical medicine and basic science, and provide career guidance and mentorship for students interested in pursuing careers in genetics/genomics.

Events & Activities

We host events bringing in speakers from UCSF and beyond, in both one-time events during the academic year and in regular elective sessions. Our next elective will be held in Winter 2027!

Exclusive Resources

Our organization has connections to and support from the Institute for Human Genetics (IHG) and is working towards affiliation with the American College of Medical Genetics (ACMG).

Connnections

The members, officers, and invited speakers of our interprofessional organization span many programs, including the School of Medicine, School of Pharmacy, and Graduate Division.
