About Us
Word on the Wards is a program where students from UCSF health professional schools serve as health coaches for patients hospitalized at ZSFGH. Through patient education, this program aims to address low health literacy and social isolation to empower patients to be proactive about their health. Topics that students will receive training on may include diabetes, hypertension, tobacco cessation, and alcohol use disorder. Students will have the opportunity to work with interprofessional student partners to conduct health coaching visits with patients from underserved backgrounds at a safety net hospital.
