  • Annual Industry Night

    IPhO's Annual Industry Night serves as a networking event to connect interested students with current PharmDs working in industry, aiming to provide an opportunity for discussion and panels across different functional areas. Sign up is required & early sign-up is encouraged, as space may be limited. AIN usually occurs in the Winter Quarter, more details to come!

  • AMCP Fall Roundtable

    AMCP's Fall Roundtable features over 15 professionals from various roles in managed care, industry, and academia. The event is typically held in November & light dinner is often served. Brief introductions are given & students, alumni, & local professionals are given networking/mingling time.

  • IPhO-Organized Meetings & Lunch Talks

    IPhO organizes several lunch talks & meetings throughout the year, providing students with unique perspectives on the current state of the biopharmaceutical industry & the pathway to meaningful employment within it. Examples of prior events include:

    • Site visits to various industry partners around the bay area, including Gilead, Genentech, & several others
    • Deep dives into industry functional areas
    • A fellowship application series, including a fair and an application workshop
    • And many more!

    These events can be found within the SOP's weekly bolus, so keep an eye out & remember to RSVP in advance.

  • National Conferences & Regional Meetings

    There are countless associations and societies that hold conferences & regional meetings across the nation and throughout the world. These gatherings can be great opportunities to network with key thought leaders and individuals with interests in particular subject areas. Some examples include:

    • Industry Pharmacists Association (IPhO) national conference
    • Association of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) annual meeting
    • Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) annual conference
    • American College of Clinical Pharmacology (AACP) annual meeting
    • Hematology/Oncology Pharmacists Association (HOPA) annual conference
    • And many more, typically named by functional area and/or therapeutic area

    Considerations for attending often include an admission fee and travel expenses, depending on the location. UCSF reimburses up to $750 of these costs per fiscal year under 3 circumstances:

    • P3 students presenting research or scholarly work at the selected conference.
    • A student competing in a clinical skills competitions.
    • A student leader (RCO board member) representing their organization at a specific annual meeting.

    Further details on conference reimbursement applications can be found here. The option to self-fund attendance always stands. In both cases, this may require using discretionary absences, depending on the time of the year.
